Quantum Algorithms Institute (QAI) Partnership

127-qubit quantum computer will open new possibilities for B.C. students and researchers

Montreal and Victoria, February 28, 2024 – The Quebec Digital and Quantum Innovation Platform (PINQ²) and the Quantum Algorithms Institute (QAI) based in British Columbia proudly announce an innovative partnership that will take advantage of the computing capabilities of the IBM computer Quantum System One located at IBM Bromont in Quebec.

As part of this unprecedented transnational collaboration, QAI provides access to PINQ²'s IBM Quantum System One computer to students and faculty at post-secondary institutions in British Columbia, giving them the opportunity to benefit from of the world-renowned system and expertise of the Quebec Quantum Innovation Zone. This initiative provides a gateway to one of the most advanced quantum systems in IBM's global fleet of quantum computers.

We are delighted to welcome QAI as the first organization in British Columbia to work on the Quebec-based IBM Quantum System One, declared Éric Capelle, general director of PINQ². Not only is this an important milestone for Canada's quantum ecosystem, it also advances research in the field of quantum computing. We are happy and proud to contribute to British Columbia's quantum ecosystem by providing access to PINQ²'s infrastructure. »

QAI is delighted to work with our partner PINQ² to expand access to quantum technologies to a broader British Columbia audience, said Louise Turner, CEO of QAI. Canada is a global leader in quantum technologies and this partnership supports the continued economic growth of the Canadian quantum sector. »

PINQ² and QAI work together to promote access to quantum innovations through comprehensive training, including workshops conducted in collaboration with IBM. This strategic partnership aims to enable greater access to the IBM Quantum System One computer within the country's academic community.
